The University of Iowa Driving Safety Research Institute (DSRI) is proud to announce a generous pledge of $250,000 from Mr. Raju S. Dandu (MS ’78), a distinguished alumnus of the College of Engineering’s electrical engineering program. Mr. Dandu’s commitment to advancing driving safety research will be realized through the newly established Raju S. Dandu DSRI Strategic Initiative Fund, which will provide $50,000 annually over the next five years.

This flexible fund will empower DSRI to pursue strategic opportunities that enhance innovation and global impact. The support may be used for acquiring cutting-edge technology, facilitating international collaborations, launching pilot projects, and strengthening infrastructure—critical areas that help DSRI remain at the forefront of transportation safety research.

“This is a game-changing gift for DSRI,” said Dan McGehee, director of DSRI. “Mr. Dandu’s support gives us the agility to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges in real time. Whether it’s investing in new tools, expanding our global partnerships, or accelerating early-stage research, this fund allows us to think bigger and move faster.”

We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Dandu for his visionary support and belief in DSRI’s mission. His investment will help shape the future of safe mobility and ensure that the institute continues to lead in research that saves lives.
